Day 48 – Dundee, OR (Day 7)

Lots came together today.

The Route
None.

About the Day
We awoke to an overcast, cool morning.  Thankfully, the sun showed up around 10:30.  It was mostly sunny and pleasant the rest of the day.

Car Repair
Dick arrived in Portland by 11:15 and returned the rental car. The Durango was ready as promised.  It looks great and is ready for the trip home. The staff at McCollum Auto Body did a great job of getting us back on the road with no delay.

Great Travel News
We learned that I-84 eastbound through the Columbia Gorge was opened by ODOT this afternoon.  This was to be part of our original route home.  Until today, we were required to take a time-consuming detour created by the Eagle Creek fire.

Play-set
Kenny worked on the play-set all day.  Based on the final appearance and number of left-over pieces, he finished it!  He also started and almost finished a safety fence before he ran out of day.
A lot of activity is built into this play-set.

Play on the Bypass
Carol, Barbara, Anna, Lucy, William and Michelle (a family friend) attended a Play on the Bypass event sponsored by ODOT.  The event is intended to give Newberg and Dundee residents a chance to get an up close and personal look at the thoroughfare designed to ease traffic congestion between the two cities.

What's a celebration without a fire truck?
Nice thoroughfare.  Can't wait for the cars.

The Evening
We had a family dinner at JEM 100, a 50’s style diner in Newberg.  They had great sandwiches, delicious ice cream and lots of customers.
OK, where's the food?

Some of the ice cream selections left colorful memories.

Tomorrow
We’re on the road again.
