Day 29 – Torrey, UT to Provo, UT

RV travel on Labor Day was quite an experience. Many campers headed home and others moved to new campgrounds.  The highways were packed with RVs and four-wheeler haulers.

The Route
We traveled 181 miles today by going northwest on UT-24, northeast on I-70 to Salina, then northwest on US-50 to I-15 and I-15 north to Provo.

About the Day
It was 70°, sunny with few clouds, and windy when we left Torrey.  The temperature reached 94° by late afternoon.

We traveled from arid wilderness to city chaos.

Getting Started
We were up at 8:45 and on the road by 10:20.

On the Way
Along UT-24 ...
The terrain was familiar as we left Torrey.
This bison herd was unexpected.
Wish we knew the stories
behind the old buildings.
This is so different from yesterday's scenes.
Clear sky and open plains.
UT-24 snakes through the low hills.
Some landscape looks like yesterday's.
Along US-50, north of Salina ...
We noticed a haze had settled in the valley.  It was smoke from fires burning in WA, OR, MT and ID..
Mt. Nebo is shrouded by smoke haze.
Along I-15 ...
A clearer view of Mt. Nebo.

The Campground
We’re camped in site #B-3 at Lakeside RV Campground.  We stayed here on September 18, 2015 during the Oregon trip … either in this site or one very close to it.

The campground is nice, but not great.

Tomorrow
We’re staying in Declo, ID as we continue along the roads leading to Portland and Newberg, OR.
