Day 40 – Portland, OR (Day 7)

A nice day.

The Route
None.

An evening experiment
Anna created a crepe last night that deserves recognition.  The ingredients included strawberries, Nutella, and a Hersey's chocolate swirl with a dusting of powdered sugar. Although some (a small group that included this author) were excluded from the taste test, the creation was reported to be very good.

About the Day
It was sunny and in the high-70s.  Rain is in the forecast beginning on Sunday.

Durango update …
The steps toward repair have proceeded as planned yesterday.

The tow truck took the Durango to the repair center at 9:30 this morning.

The assessment is that the repairs can be completed by next Friday depending on parts availability.  We’ll get an update on Monday.

We have a Ford Fusion rental.

An outing …
We (Tim, Elizabeth, Dick and Carol) went on a picnic at Milwaukie Riverfront Park along the Willamette River.  Tim and Elizabeth rode their bikes the 7.6 miles to get there.  We drove and brought the goodies.  The day was beautiful and the river was peaceful.

Scenes along the Willamette River
The picnic
It was so good even the bees came.
Just playing and dreaming
We'll take that house over there ... the big one.

The river's edge is down there a ways.

A travelogue
Elizabeth and Tim shared pictures and experiences from their 3½ week trip to Turkey and Scotland from earlier this summer.  The beauty and religious history of the countries was captivating.

Tomorrow
We’ll have our “traditional” family dinner at Thanh Thao Restaurant.
