Today
was a longer, slower travel day than expected.
The Route
This 254 mile trip took us from Mississippi into Tennessee, and
then into north-central Arkansas. We
started out from Tupelo on US-78 (I-22). In Memphis we connected with I-55, progressed
into Arkansas, then followed US-63, AR-14, US-67, AR-87 and AR-25 to Jim &
Bobbie Couron’s house.
About the Day
The temperature reached 90°F. The humidity was pretty high. It was a mostly sunny day but a shower moved
in late in the day.
Traffic and the driving conditions were the antithesis of
yesterday’s experiences. Road surfaces were roughened by heavy truck traffic, there
was lots of traffic and there was some really slow going in Memphis. An estimated 4 hour trip turned into 6 hours.

Some Humor
At some point, highway sign makers in Arkansas must have had a
slow day. We saw this dandy on AR-87 (a
two-lane country road) …
Road unsafe when under water
Hmm? Good to know.
About the Evening
We arrived at about 4:20 pm.
We got right into catching up after getting the trailer situated. Didn't even slow down to take a few pictures ... ouch!
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner prepared by Bobbie and moved
effortlessly into enjoying homemade peach cobbler with ice cream. As you can
imagine, this part of the day was really hard work, but we did politely did our
part.
We visited and watched some great America’s Got Talent auditions until late.
The Campground
We’re set up in Jim & Bobbie’s side yard. Jim had run water and electricity lines for
us.
Positioning and leveling became a family activity that resulted in
a “perfect” grade from Jim.
Tomorrow
We’re staying another day to visit with Jim & Bobbie.
